My name is John Shepard, I started to learn how to cook outdoors, and more specifically BBQ while growing up in NC. 40 years of experience, including creating a competition BBQ team in the early 2000s by the name of Sir Porkalot BBQ Team.
Retiring from competition BBQ in 2012, I have focused on sharing my knowledge and helping others learn about the craft.
I now have several Facebook groups focusing on the art of BBQ with combined membership of over 150K members worldwide.
I am still known as Sir Porkalot in the BBQ community,
